If you are over the age of 18 and failed the maneuverability or road portion of the driving test, this is the course for you! After failing your driving test, the state of Ohio requires you to take the 4 Hour Adult Abbreviated Driver’s Education course. This course is designed to get you ready to pass your driving test. It will walk you through defensive driving strategies, the basic operations of driving a vehicle, traffic laws, and much more!

In addition to completing this 4hr online course, you will also need to complete the behind-the-wheel driving requirements. You can accomplish this by completing one of the two options listed below. After completing this course AND your driving requirements you will be eligible to re-take your Ohio BMV Driving Test.

  1. Enroll in a 4 hour adult abbreviated behind-the-wheel driving course with a certified Ohio driving school.
  2. Practice driving for 24 hours with another licensed driver over the age of 21. (No more than 4 hours of driving practice in a single day)
    If you choose this route, you will need to fill out the Twenty-Four Hour Affidavit and have it notarized.

Is behind the wheel training required?

Yes, behind the wheel training is required after the online program is completed. There are two options:

  1. 4 hours of in-car training with a licensed instructor at a certified Ohio driving school.
  2. 24 hours of driving (no more than 4 hours per day) with a licensed driver at least 21 years of age. A Twenty-Four Hour Affidavit form is required. Download affidavit form here.
Does the course expire?

Yes, the state of Ohio requires that you complete the program within 90 days. If you do not complete the program within 90 days, you will need to pay a $30 fee and will have to restart the course from the very beginning.

Can I take the course from my phone?

Yes! The course is accessible from any modern device with an internet connection. You can login and learn from your laptop, tablet, or phone from anywhere with an internet connection.

Is it possible to fail the course?

Yes, if you fail the final exam 3 times, you will have to restart the course from the beginning. You are allowed 3 attempts on the final exam. You are only allowed to take the final exam once every 24 hours. If you fail the exam the first time, you can try again after 24 hours pass. If you fail the exam 3 times, you will have to re-take the entire course, starting from the beginning, and there will be a $30 fee to restart the course.

In order to pass the final exam you will need to achieve a score of 75% or higher. The exam consists of 50 questions. This means you must answer at least 38 of 50 questions correctly.

How will I get my certificate of completion?

After passing the final exam and completing the course, you will be emailed a certificate of completion. The certificate will be sent in PDF format to the email address you used when you registered for the online course.

Can I reschedule my road test after completing the online course?

The online program fulfills only the classroom requirement. You must also complete the driving requirements.

There are two options:
