Ohio Online Driver's Ed.

Every Ohio resident who is over the age of 15 years and 5 months and under the age of 18 is eligible to take Teen Driver's Ed. Online! If that sounds like you, you're in the right place!

If you are over the age of 18 and failed your Ohio driving test, you are eligible to take the Online 4hr Adult Abbreviated program.

TEENS

1. Complete at least 4 units in the online course (or all of it!).
2. Visit the Ohio BMV to pass your exam and get your learner permit.
3. Begin driving and accumulating hours — you'll need 50 practice hours, 10 of them at night.
4. Finish the online course if you haven't already.
5. Receive your official course completion certificate.
6. Complete 8 hours of driving lessons at a local certified driving school.
7. Pass your driving test, get your license, and hit the road!

ADULTS

1. After failing your road test, enroll in the 4-hour Adult Abbreviated course.
2. Complete the online program.
3. Fulfill your driving requirements — either enroll in a 4-hour behind-the-wheel course with a certified school, or practice for 24 hours with a licensed driver over 21 (max 4 hours/day) and complete a notarized Twenty-Four Hour Affidavit.
4. Return to the BMV and pass your road test!

Teens: The course is the state-required minimum of 24 hours. The state limits you to 4 hours of learning per day, so after 4 hours you'll be temporarily locked out until the following day.

Adults: The Adult Abbreviated program is 4 hours total. You can complete it in one sitting or spread it out — just finish within 90 days of starting.

The final exam has 50 questions (multiple choice and true/false). You need 75% or higher to pass — that's 38 out of 50 correct.

You get 3 attempts, one per day. The course is designed to prepare you well, and most students pass with no problem. If you do need a course reset after 3 failed attempts, contact us — there's a $30 reset fee.

Your certificate of completion is emailed to you automatically once you finish the course. It typically arrives within 3 business days (Mon–Fri), though it can occasionally take up to 5 business days. Keep an eye on your spam folder just in case!

You can complete your 8 hours of behind-the-wheel lessons with any certified Ohio driving school — just bring your EZ Drive Ohio certificate of completion.

To earn your Ohio Driver's License, you'll need to:

• Be at least 16 years old
• Have held your permit for at least 6 months
• Complete your Ohio driver's ed course and receive a Certificate of Completion
• Complete 8 hours of training with a state-certified driving school
• Complete 50 hours of practice driving (10 of which must be at night)

Once you've checked all the boxes, schedule your driving test with an authorized school or the Ohio BMV. When you enroll, we'll walk you through the entire process step-by-step!

Yes. Ohio has graduated license restrictions for drivers under 18:

• License held less than 1 year: No driving midnight–6am; no more than one non-family passenger without a parent/guardian present.
• License held 1 year or more: No driving 1am–5am without a parent/guardian.

Within your first 6 months, a traffic conviction may require supervised driving until age 17. Multiple violations or any alcohol-related offense before 18 can result in a license suspension. Drive safe and drive defensively!
